Crystal Coast Lady Wedding Wedding – Andrew and Janelle are Married!

So I was excited about this wedding on the Crystal Coast Lady for a few reasons. Despite finding out after the fact that Janelle has horrible taste in NFL teams (fortunately Andrew turned out alright), the way she described her wedding, I knew they would be wonderful to get to know. I could feel the happiness just emanating from these two and every single one of their guests. Couples that work with me are usually not easily deterred from having a good time and these two were no exception. They made the absolute best of a rainy day and had an absolute blast with it. Congratulations Andrew and Janelle!

About the Couple

Where did your wedding take place?

Crystal Coast Lady

What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

Saying “We do!” We worked with our officiant to tailor the ceremony to us and our relationship, in addition to writing personal vows to each other. There was laughter, there were tears and it said “us” from start to finish.

What was the most helpful piece of advice you received when it came to planning your wedding?

“When you get stressed, remember why you’re doing this.” There were several times that things decidedly did not go our way, including a torrential downpour immediately preceding the ceremony that soaked everyone in the bridal party and every guest in attendance. But we started this whole process knowing 2 things: 1. this was about us celebrating the next milestone in our relationship and 2. including our friends and family in said celebration and having a kick a$$ time! Coming back to those 2 ideas kept us both centered when chaos ensued. (We also had a code word we shouted at each other when it came down to the wire – it was both cathartic and funny.)

What was the biggest reason you chose Dave Shay Photography on your wedding day?

Fate led us to Dave down a rather long and winding path, but, I can truly say, it was meant to be. Not only are his pictures aesthetically beautiful and artfully shot, but Dave himself is the real deal in the package. I fell in love with his images (not an easy task – I’m a bit of a photography snob) but from our first conversations, I knew we were going to get along juusssttttt fine. His easy-going, down-to-earth approach is a breath of fresh air in an industry fraught with high-pressure and stress. Dave took the time to learn what was important about our day and seamlessly wove himself into the plans and, ultimately, our special weekend. When it came to figuring out plans B-Z on the big day, he was calm, solution-oriented, didn’t mind getting wet and backed me up when herding friends and family. I couldn’t have foreseen the need for a war-time consigliere and photographer rolled into one but, like I said, fate led me to Dave.

How would you describe your Wedding day? Use as many or as few words as you’d like

In one word: Unforgettable.

In several: Perfect. Fun. Wet.

The whole weekend was a blur, but the overall sentiment we feel in retrospect is joy. Joy that we were able to take this next step together. Joy that our closest friends and family took the time out of their lives to travel and celebrate with us. Joy that, despite the monsoon, everyone in attendance has made a point to share how much fun it was! And finally, joy that we have the most amazing memories to last a lifetime.
