American Tobacco Campus Engagement Photos – Abby and Phil
The American Tobacco Campus is one of those places that pretty much doubles as a photographer’s playground. When Abby told me they were looking for a very Durham vibe to their engagement session, obviously the American Tobacco Campus came to mind, and shooting there at night was so much fun. Photography when the sun is out is one thing, but when you have a couple that trusts you enough to turn the lights out and rely on your ability as a professional, it really gets exciting. I met Abby and Phil at Cortney and Brad‘s wedding a few year’s ago and have been thrilled to have our paths keep crossing. Check out some of my favorites from their engagement session at the American Tobacco Campus below!

We could not decide on where to have our pictures done, so we asked the expert! Dave suggested the American Tobacco Campus and would could not be more excited about it!
We loved the atmosphere the most. It is a beautiful place during the day and at night with lots of spots to take nice pictures!
We have been together about 3.5 years, almost 4.
Philip and I are always looking for a new adventure, we love to travel and explore new areas. We have recently moved to Pinehurst, NC, a big golfing town, and so Philip has been getting into golf! We have two lovable puppy children, Bailey and Riley, that definitely keep our hands full!
So Philip painted a jewelry box with the words “will you marry me” on each of the four sides. We went to dinner with my best friend, Amie, and her boyfriend, Alessio, and Philip had Amie give me the jewelry box pretending it was a Christmas present from her. I opened the present and by the time I figured out what the box said and what was going on, I turned to look at Philip and he was down on one knee! It was very sweet and I was completely surprised!
The best piece of advice we have gotten since being engaged is to enjoy every minute together. To enjoy all of the fun times that come with the planning and to take our time. We have definitely been listening to that advice and have been having fun planning our wedding together!
We are most looking forward to seeing all of the pieces of wedding planning come together and to have all of our families and closest friends to there to celebrate with us!
All of it! I don’t think I could pick just one thing.
The engagement shoot was amazing. Dave made us feel so comfortable and we had a lot of fun taking so many pictures, I think our faces hurt by the end from smiling so much! But it was definitely worth it! Dave suggested where to go and how to stand, and we were simply amazed by the pictures that he captured!
I’d also like to extend a huge thank you to Ellen for her help holding flashes during the shoot.
