Biltmore Estate Engagement Photos – Jonathan and Lauren: Engaged!

I’m going to be honest, I’ve been dying to take some Biltmore Estate Engagement Photos for months now, and I am SO happy that I got a chance to head out there with Jonathan and Lauren. Sarah and I managed to escape kid to Asheville, NC for the weekend kid free, and got to scope out The Biltmore Estate a bit beforehand (blog post coming soon). We caught golden hour perfectly, and with some of Asheville’s gorgeous mountain views, and Jonathan and Lauren’s good looks, this went just about as well as an engagement session can go. Check out some of my favorite Biltmore Estate Engagement Photos to date and get to know them below!

Lauren

What’s your Fiancee’s name?

Jonathan

Where did your engagement session take place?

The Biltmore Estate

If you chose the location, was there any reason you chose that spot in particular?

Jonathan and I have visited The Biltmore several times and were drawn to the beauty of the historic site and breathtaking views. This was the perfect venue to take our engagement pictures.

How long have you two been together?

A little over two years

Tell me about the two of you. What makes you two unique, either as a couple or individually? (Quirks, jokes, hobbies, etc)

In some ways we are complete opposites that compliment one another beautifully. In others we are almost the same person, reading one another’s thoughts. Our life together is crazy at times. Dating a night shift nurse, who is hard to work while the world is fast asleep, is a complete change of pace for a strict nine to five attorney in a business suit. Jonathan likes to joke that since the day he met me he knew he would never get bored.

Tell me about the proposal. Don’t leave out any details!

I had worked that Christmas Eve and came home Christmas morning exhausted, but knowing I had a full day of Christmas festivities I needed to get ready for and on no sleep. I came home to my house to find Jonathan there with Bing Crosby playing and every Christmas light in the house twinkling. He had refused to let the fact that it was my first year as a hospital nurse, required to work holidays ruin my very favorite one. He insisted we open our gifts before heading out to the many Christmas stops we had to make that day. Both eager to give one another our gifts, we argued for a few minutes about who was going to give their gift first. Jonathan won, and I tore into the beautifully wrapped present in front of me. Just as I tore back the last sheet of tissue paper to reveal a beautiful blue box, I looked up to see Jonathan down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree. It was a perfect proposal, and a complete surprise. I got to spend the rest of the day with our families, showing off my new Christmas present. It may not have snowed that Christmas, but it was one both of us will always remember.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten since being engaged?

To not allow the reason we are getting married to get lost in the wedding and all its planning.

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day?

As a New Years wedding we are looking forward to having our first New Years kiss as man and wife.

How would you describe your engagement shoot? Use as many or as few words as you’d like

Our engagement shoot was amazing. It was the first time meeting Dave in person and we felt like an old friend was taking our pictures. The beauty of the mountains behind us made for a very romantic scene to take our pictures.
