Boylan Bridge Engagement Photos – Jon and Jaime are Engaged!

After a long week in Portland, I was a bit jet lagged, and tired of being cold, so I can’t tell you how happy I was to find out that it was going to be a warmer day for Jon and Jaime’s engagement session at the Boylan Bridge. We caught the perfect amount of sun, and the light was incredible. Can’t wait for the wedding!

About the Couple

Boylan Bridge

Jon is originally from Ohio and I am originally from Tennessee and yet, of all the places and all the people in the world we managed to cross each other’s paths in Raleigh, NC. Boylan Bridge offers the best view of the Raleigh skyline, which is why I chose this particular location for the engagement session because it highlights the city where we met and our story began.

I love the location for the breathtaking and mesmerizing view it offers.

2.5 years

I would definitely say I am the goofier one out of the two of us.  I enjoy laughing and joking around and so does Jon, but he has a very serious and analytical side to him.  However, as a couple, Jon always says we’re going to change the world somehow. No matter where we go, what we do, we always end up helping someone with our words and advice whether that was our intention or not.

Last year, for Jon’s 31st birthday, I organized a dinner with our families at Jon’s favorite restaurant.  As we were waiting for everyone to arrive, Jon’s sister said she had to talk to me about something and pulled me away from the group (little did I know that Jon was asking my mother’s permission to marry me while his sister had to “talk” to me).  Once everyone arrived and we sat down to dinner, Jon stood up and thanked everyone for coming to his birthday dinner and how this dinner wouldn’t have happened without my planning.  Jon then quoted the proverb ‘a virtuous woman,’ ending with “Jaime will you marry me?”  Of course I said, yes!  Jon still likes to joke that I planned my own engagement party.

The key to a strong and enduring marriage is to love and respect one another while communicating during both the hard and happy times.

Getting to marry my best friend!!…… surrounded by everyone we love 🙂

I loved how natural and fun Dave made the engagement shoot feel.

I would describe the engagement shoot as relaxed, comfortable, fun, and hilarious.  I mentioned that I have a problem closing my eyes during photos at the beginning of the session so during the individual photo session I was told to smile, but not to look so murderous (Dave of course said this jokingly…..I hope) at which point I lost it with laughter because the whole time I was just trying to keep my eyes open and adding a smile on top of it, that was too much for me to handle.  I have since retold this story many times and every time laugh even harder.  But seriously, Dave is an amazing photographer and his skills and professionalism surpass anything I could have ever envisioned.
