NEEDTOBREATHE – Tour De Compadres 2016 Opening Night
I’ve been lucky enough to be at Red Hat twice this year (last time I had was able to work with Gavin DeGraw) and to say this one is special to me isn’t going to cover it. NEEDTOBREATHE is my favorite band. Their song ‘Oh, Carolina’ came out a few months after my wife and I had decided on the name Carolina Grace for our little girl whom we hadn’t met yet, and their record ‘Rivers in the Wasteland’ got me through some of the toughest times I’ve had in my life.
Now forgive me if this is an overshare at all, but last year around this time we were in the bad part of what happens when you move 600 miles away and start your life over. I was tired, we were very tight on cash, and I was struggling with some pretty deep depression. We started to weigh out whether or not we should continue with photography at all, because everything just seemed so hopeless..I honestly can’t believe how much has changed in this past year, and how much I want to just go back and shout at myself from a year ago to share what I know now.

“It’s not over yet.”
I could go on for days, with bookings all across the United States, to being able to photograph The Vice President, Gavin Degraw, and NEEDTOBREATHE within a matter of months, but I just want to say, that if everything is overwhelming right now, it will get better, and I wish I could go through it with you.
And with that, I’ll shut up, do what I do best, and share with y’all some of the pictures from the Tour De Compadres opening night with NEEDTOBREATHE, Mat Kearney, John Mark McMillian, and Welshly Arms that it was my privilege to share in with these guys.
