Ramapo Valley Reservation Engagement Photos | Kathryn and Charlie

While I eagerly await to head back to Full Moon Resort to shoot their wedding day, I was excited to meet Kathryn and Charlie at Ramapo Valley Reservation to take some engagement photos. It was where they had their first date, and they allowed pets to tag along which was pretty convenient as well. It was a beautiful day, and despite a few bug bites, I had a great time hanging out!

Ramapo Valley Reservation

Our 1st date spot

2 years

Charlie a sensitive eccentric artist and Kathryn a unicorn-loving free spirit found each other on Halloween, the week of a full moon when the stars aligned. it definitely felt like fate, as Charlie was dressed like Thor, Kathryn’s favorite super hero. She happened to have a Thor helmet in her car and Charlie’s costume was lacking a helmet, so she lent it to him. The rest was history. We love hiking with Jack the dog, practicing yoga, and eating ice cream together. We spend a LOT of time laughing at how ridiculously weird Charlie is and his sweet dance moves.

After a long day snowboarding upstate, Charlie wanted to have a drink. Being a Sunday in March, the lodge bar was closing early so we hit the road, thinking we would find a place on the way home. Realizing shortly after we were in the middle of nowhere and probably wouldn’t find a place to stop. Until just around a bend on a cliff we drove past a little inn with a blinking sign “we are open, come in”. Charlie turned the car around, we walked in to the Captain’s Inn, greeted by the most adorable Captain himself, a blazing fireplace, buy 1 get 1 free happy hour, the aroma of sizzling steak, and the most incredible valley mountain view you could imagine.. It felt like we walked into a dream. After some great conversation with the captain, Charlie realized he “forgot his wallet in the car” (the ring) and ran out to get it.. when he got back inside, we took a walk out back, to a sky deck and gazebo to look at the scenery.. and that’s when he asked. I was completely shocked, have no idea how he could’ve gotten this past me, how we ended up in the most beautiful location by chance, and if “the Captain knew”.

Be true to yourselves, enjoy every minute of planning.. take a step back and absorb every moment

having all of our friends and family around us to celebrate our love. Promising forever, getting all dressed up, and dancing the night away!! And the food, and the roadhouse, literally everything lol.
